If You Could Only See - Tonic

I don't know any other songs that this band released, but this one is enough. The change from the acoustic guitar to the full band electric after the one run of the chorus hits pretty hard. I'm not a big fan of the video, but I'll let it slide. The lead vocals are really strong, too. He doesn't try to over sing anything. He just lets it flow, and he's got a pretty powerful vocal. He being lead singer Emerson Hart.

The song is the band's highest charting single, falling just short of the Hot 100's top ten at #11. It appeared on their 1997 album, Lemon Parade. The song's meaning is a personal tale of Hart's. Having fallen in love with someone, possibly an older woman, according to one interview, of whom his family didn't approve, Hart told his mother, "if you could only see the way she loves me, maybe you would understand" and wrote the song in a matter of minutes after finishing the phone conversation that ended with that line.
