Santeria - Sublime

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U60W49hrbsw]

Another song that's very nostalgic for me... This one was a hit when I was growing up, and I dug it then, still do now. The groove in the song is bouncy, and it tells a pretty good story, too. Sublime was never one of my favorite bands, but they did have a few good ones. The video above is not the band's original signer, Bradley Nowell, who passed away shortly after the song was released, but this is an awesome quality recording.

Santeria is a religion practiced in the Caribbean and is a blending of Yoruba religious practices and that of Roman Catholics. The song tells the story of Sancho, which is an ambivilas term for any man in Mexico who steals another man's girlfriend, who is often referred to in the same manner, as "heina". The song received some criticism from parents and critics for its violent nature, including lyrics about shooting someone or slicing their throat. Still the song has become the band's most popular, and signature, song.

Below is video that I found very randomly on YouTube.  It's a good cover in what looks to be a hotel room.
