Addams Family Groove - MC Hammer

October Theme: Halloween & Spooky Things

Underneath all of the extra stuff that is added into this sort of pseudo remix, you can still here the original Addams Family theme song. The familiar "bah-dah-dah-dum, snap-snap" lingers in the foundation of Hammer's modern - for the nineties - take on the tune. He also manages to insert the feel for the quirkiness of the Addams and their insane antics into the lyrical content. Beyond his hits "Hammer Time" and "U Can't Touch This", this movie soundtrack theme was one of the rappers biggest hits.

In the original theme, written by Vic Mizzy, a Hollywood composer, Lurch sounds off with silly, nonsense words like "neat" and "petite" throughout the song. The voice was provided by the actor who originally portrayed the character, Ted Cassidy. The wrest of the theme was almost 100% harpsichord and finger snaps. A simple theme that became one of the best known pieces of music on TV.
