I tried for several hours to come up with one Elvis song to put in this blog, but that just wasn't going to happen. I decided on this very well-put-together medley. It's got some of The King's biggest hits in it. I could probably write a small novel about him, but I won't do that. I will say that when you see clips of young Elvis right next to clips of older Elvis, it's very apparent how much he changed over the course of his career, and this video presents both those images.
The medley was put together after the success of another, similar project. The studio group, Stars on 45, released a medley in 1981 that became a #1 hit. Its full title is "Medley: Intro Venus/Sugar Sugar/No Reply/I'll Be Back/Drive My Car/Do You Want to Know a Secret/We Can Work It Out/I Should Have Known Better/Nowhere Man/You're Going to Lose That Girl/Stars on 45". It is, to date, the longest-titled hit to ever make it on the Billboard charts. The success of that medley started a trend of cutting original hit recordings together, such as this Elvis medley, in attempt to capture that same success.
