I went to jam with some guys in Grayson, KY recently, and this was one of the tunes that they're covering. I hadn't heard it in a long time, but it's a good tune. It's the only thing they play that's not newer country covers or original music. It's nice to hear classics in that mix, too, and if you're gonna go classic, Williams is a great choice.
Williams released the Danny Flowers written tune in 1978, and it became is eighth #1, holding that position for a single week. It caught on enough to be covered by several other artists, not just in the country world. While country artists like Reba McEntire took on the song, it hit more of a rock note when Eric Clapton took his turn laying down the track.
