Random Theme: Songs Named After Girls

First come the musicals... The Sound of Music & West Side Story both contain a song with the title "Maria." Next, the list continues on for a good while with artists like Blondie, Green Day, The Jackson 5, All Time Low, Ricky Martin, and Rage Against the Machine (plus several more) having songs with Maria's name in the title. I decided to go with this one.
The Brooks and Dunn cover was the first I ever heard of this song, and I like their arrangement a little better. The form is pretty much the same, but it doesn't settle back down to quite as slow a pace as the Stevenson one does in the verses. Ronnie Dunn's vocal are also a little smoother, and the slight changes made to the melody are an improvement in my opinion. A lot of people agree with liking the cover better. While the Stevenson original only made it to #9 on Billboard Charts, the country cover by B&D made it all the way to #1.
