Drunk on You - Luke Bryan

"I'm a little drunk on you and high on summertime" is such a great line for a song. "Dunk on You" has a slightly odd form with the verses only being six bars instead of the usual eight, but until you get into learning the song for a performance, you really don't notice. It flows really well. The use of white space in the song is great. Too often songs are too full of words and music. That might sound strange, but it's true. The best writers don't cram too much into their songs. They create just enough to make it work. This is one of those songs. That empty space is also part of what makes the song hard to cover.

While I'm admittedly not a big fan of Bryan's or new country in general, at least Top 40 stuff, I can get past that and appreciate a good song. Well, a song that is OK and could be good if it wasn't pressed down in to that little box that the labels press everything into like it's coming of an assembly line. I digress. The song was Bryan's first to make the Top 20 on the Hot 100, and he's been turning out hits since then.
