If I had to compile a list of favorite songs...well, I don't know that I could. If you locked me up in a room with no other goals or responsibilities for a month, I could maybe narrow it down to fifty or so. After I emerged from the music lockup in which I was being held, this song could probably be found within those fifty, but it would specifically be this life version. The combination of real instruments, a horn section, and the inclusion of James Browns's appearance, make it perfect. The studio version is a good tune, but this performance is amazing.
The song appeared on Usher's fourth studio album, Confessions, released as the fifth single. While it was an excellent contribution to the collection, it was the lowest performing single, but when the lowest performing single on your album still earns a #8 spot on the Hot 100, you're doing pretty well. The other four singles, "Yeah!," "Burn," "Confessions Part II," and "My Boo," were all #1 hits for the artist.
