Low Rider - War

While many people believed this song was about drugs, the band's original drummer, Harold Brown, says it's absolutely not. He was one of the guys of the era that was in to the low rider scene. A low rider is car trend that first took hold i the Hispanic community of lowering classic cars hydraulically. The song takes that trend and turns it into a sort of lifestyle.

The song was a huge hit for the band, and it has become the staple of their career in pop culture. It's been featured in movies, TV shows, and commercials. It's also been covered by several bands, including Korn, Phish, and Barry White. Actually, after learning of the White cover, I had to go digging for it. It's definitely different, but it has its own kind of thing that works...sort of. I definitely have to disagree with the idea to change the signature harmonic/saxophone line to lyrics. Sham, shame, Barry!
