True to Your Heart - 98 Degrees

 [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oco8Cu9OIZM]

I honestly don't know any other songs by this group...wait, that's not true.  They do a really good version of "The Christmas Song". Other than that, I don't, I guess I should say, remember any of their songs. I know I've heard them on the radio back in the day if nothing else. I probably wouldn't know this one if it wasn't for the fact that I'd seen the movie Mulan. This one of of the main themes from the film. The soundtrack is also the one that a lot of people say launched Christina Aguilera's career with her rendition of "Reflection".

This band formed in L.A., but oddly enough, all of the members are from Ohio. Most "boy bands" - and we're using the word band fast and loose here, because in order to be a "band" in my opinion you have to play instruments, but I digress - are not formed independently; they are assembled by record labels. This group was formed by one of the members, Jeff Timmons. I guess that gives them a little more street cred...no, I can't even finish the sentence. BTW, the only reason in my opinion that this song - despite the fact that the group has had eight, that's right, eight top 40 singles - is so good is because of the inclusion of Stevie Wonder and the influence he surely had on the song. That's Wonder on the harmonica solos and riffs, and you can, hopefully, pick out his vocal parts, too.
