Billboard Top 100 of 2012

I don't really listen to the radio very often. I am introduced to new music when it's suggested to me by a friend or I happen to be out somewhere that has it playing on the jukebox or store PA. There were several songs on this top 100 that I'd never heard, but that wasn't surprising to me.

What was surprising was the number of country singles that made this list. I know that contemporary country is popular, but still, I was surprised. There were a lot of the same country artists repeated; Jason Aldean for example was on the list at least three or four times. Regardless of how you feel about new country, I would rather hear it on this list than some of the other pop music that's out there.

Other names that were on the list multiple times include Usher, David Guetta, Adele, Rhianna, and unfortunately, Niki Minaj. There are lots of songs here that I can't understand any reason that people liked them. A lot of the rap songs are just repeating the same phrase over and over again. It's crazy. Music evolves, though, and this is the point at which we are, right now in that evolution.
