It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas - Michael Bublé

December Theme: Christmastime Again

I think this is a great song to start off my Christmas postings with. I living in Huntington, WV, and I've heard all the stories about shopping downtown before Sears and all the other big department stores moved to the mall. I really wish I had had the chance to experience that downtown street shopping life and atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great little stores in Huntington to go to, but there are just as many empty storefronts, and the foot traffic is much less than it was then.  Regardless, all the little things that happen to make it look like Christmas are still there one way or another.

This song was written in 1951 by Meredith Williams, and it became a hit that year. The first artist to make it a classic was Perry Como, accompanied by The Fontane Sisters and Mitchell Ayeres & His Orchestra. The legend behind the song says that Meredith wrote the song while staying at the Grand Hotel, mentioned in the song, in Nova Scotia, a hotel which also overlooks Frost park...both have Christmas trees.
