Give a Little Love - Noah and the Whale

The song accompanying this video is OK as far as music goes, but in the arena of content, it stands very tall in my opinion. "Give a Little Love" appears on the group's debut album, Peaceful the World Lays Me Down. The album contained five singles, but "Give a Little Love" didn't make the cut. It's still a great song, as the deep tracks of an album often are. Though it's a little off the beaten path of mainstream music - really all of the group's music is - it's still got a lot of elements of music you'd hear on the radio. Again, it's the ideals presented in the song that make it better than it would otherwise be.

The video works with it hand-in-hand, showing a stream of character's paying it forward. That's something we could all use a little more of nowadays. The idea of helping somebody in need seems like such a foreign concept anymore. I can't understand why people have to wait on a disaster to feel like they should help out others. What would it kill you to let someone else in front of you in line?  How hard is it to hold a door for someone?  How about you pick up that broken glass bottle off the sidewalk before it does some damage?

I think the big problem is that everyone is in such a hurry. We've built a society where people feel like it has to be done yesterday. When did things that aren't important become so important? Does someone's life depend on your actions? If not, chill out, slow down, and notice the other people around you in the world and try to make a difference, no matter how small.
