Cover of the Rolling Stone - Dr. Hook

There's a lot of stigma that's associated with being a rock star, for better or worse. That's what this song is all about. Hook and the band are singing about all the things that make a rockstar a rockstar: drugs, groupies, big guitar solos, and of course, being on the cover of Rolling Stone. Up to the release of this song, the band had not been featured, but after its release, they found there way onto the cover in caricature.

There have been lots of songs about being a rockstar. Recently, many will remember Nickleback's "Rockstar" or Gary Allan's "Living Hard". This was the original that satirized making it big. Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show had a few other hits throughout the seventies, but this is the one most people know. The song was a Top Ten, reaching the #6 spot.
