It just seems like it's going to be another one of those summers where the rain is never ending. I'm not quite as ecstatic about as Kelly is, though. My motorcycle has been parked for weeks. Outdoor shows and events I was supposed to play at or attend have been cancelled. I can't even go sit outside on the porch. I very much dislike the rain pretty much any time other than when I'm trying to fall asleep.
Kelly was really one of the classics. He was not only an actor, dancer, and singer as seen above, but he also directed and produced movies, as well as taking on choreography duties on occasion. We just don't seem to get the chance to see this as often anymore. These types of entertainers are still around; there just doesn't seem to be as much of a place for them in the world of cinema. I think I'll follow this up tomorrow with a performance from a couple of guys that take Kelly's lead.
The song was written by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown. It was first published in 1929, and it was used in the movie of the same name in 1952 for the scene above. It has been listed on countless "best of" or "top" lists, and it even holds a spot on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs list.
