I've heard lots of versions of this song, and it's a song that I've always wanted to like, but I could never find one that came across just right. This one, with a sort of Celtic feel, seems to be just right. The song is a traditional carol from England, and it 's a pretty old tune. The oldest written version is from the 17th century.
The band is a duo from Britain, originally formed in 1997. The two members are Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night, hence the name of the group. They have eight studio albums to their credit, one of which is their holiday album, Winter Carols, from which this tune comes.
