I Want You for Christmas - Cheap Trick

Sometimes you don't have to write a new song to get a Christmas song. Sometimes you can just take a song you already have and change the lyrics a little bit. I've posted another song like this in the past by the Tractors. In my opinion, that song wins if I'm comparing it against this song, but a revamped, Christmas version of "I Want You to Want Me" isn't all that bad either, especially when it's for a good cause.

The original song (see below) was one of the band's biggest hits, but not in the way a song usually becomes a hit. When it was first released in '75, the song didn't even chart in the US. However, going the way of David Hasslehof's music career but ending significantly better, the song was a huge hit over seas.

The success of the tune in Japan led the a concert and live recording that became the band's biggest success. The live version of "I Want You to Want Me" reached #7 on the Hot 100 and became the band's biggest success. It's the song for which most people know them, and it's pretty catchy. It was followed by another popular tune, "Surrender".
