A lot of people know this song from "American Psycho" with Christian Bale, hence the video below.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time, for sure. This song is so catchy that it wouldn't matter what the lyrics were, but the lyrics are great, too. The lyrics tell of a self reflection on the band and a lot about the times. Specifically, it's like one of your grandparents, who happened to be a 60's hippy, telling you how they've embraced a different lifestyle in the 80's, free-spirit to more a business class lifestyle.
The guitar and bass riff keeps the song pumping while the horns and organ fill in the gaps around Lewis's vocals. The details - like the drum kit falling out all but the kick drum and going to the bell of the ride cymbal in the last part of the song - are what really make it. The devil's in the details, as they say. You can watch the video above for the full song with cuts of "American Psycho". Below is the introduction that Christian Bale's character gives the song during the movie. It's good.
