Soothe Me - Sam and Dave

This song appears in The Blues Brothers very briefly, and that's where my familiarity with the song began. It's not included on the movie's soundtrack, but it is definitely in the movie. It plays on the blues mobile's 8-track player shortly after Elwood picks Jake up from his prison release, while the two are on their way to see the Penguin. Why it's not included on the soundtrack, I couldn't say. It would've just been one more awesome song on an already great list.

The song was released by Stax, and it definitely has that classic Stax sound. Stax was founded in 1957 as Satellite Records, changing its name in 1961. Playing a huge roll in the creation of southern soul, it gave us many hits and some great artists. The label's house band was Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and their biggest star was the legendary Otis Redding. The label is still functioning today in their revival stage.
