The guitar riff in this song is what made it a hit, and a hit it was. It was the #1 Album Rock Song of 1994 and climbed to #11 on the Hot 100. The song's mention of "heaven" had at least one writer labeling the band as a Christian group, but frontman Ed Roland argued that point. He made the point that Led Zeppelin used the same word in their music, but no one ever labeled them as a Christian group. He stressed that no one doctrine was able to classify all of the band's members. Roland's own background did suggest his religious beliefs, though. His father was a Southern Baptist Preacher.
