Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival

I kind of feel like this is cheating since I just used a CCR tune a couple days ago, but I'll let myself slide on this one. You can't intend to write about Halloween songs for the whole month of October and not use this song. It's not creepy or mystic in its sound at all, but the lyrics lend themselves to the season, especially after you learn the song's origin.

CCR member John Fogerty wrote the song about the impending apocalypse. The idea came to him after watching The Devil and Daniel Webster. The story is about a man who sells his soul to the Devil, seeking help from Daniel Webster, a cunning public speaker, after things begin to go terribly awry. Daniel stands up for the man caught in the deal, putting his own soul on the line to save the man and his family.
