I Put a Spell on You - Joss Stone & Jeff Beck

If you don't like this version of this, you can just go home. Beck's playing is ridiculously perfect in the song and is outdone only by Stone's vocal. She definitely put a spell on me. The tone she sings that first line really ensnares you. The choir in the background pushes things over the top to just plain amazing.

The song is a 1956 track written and recorded by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. This was also the song that earned Hawkins his nickname. According to his account. most of which he can't really remember, this song was supposed to be a standard blues ballad, but the producer got everybody drunk before the recording, and the version we all know today is what got printed. Hawkins says that after going back and listening to it he realized he could "do more destroying a song and screaming it to death". Below, you'll find his original take on the song, as well as a live version on The Arsenio Hall Show. You can clearly tell that he was either drunk during the recording and possibly stayed that way from there out.
