This song is a great Halloween tune, but beyond that, it has such a great hook. The CDB always does a great job of telling stories, as is obvious with hits like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". This one tells a story from deep in the swamp, which coincidentally is one of my favorite words. The way that it rolls off the tongue is so smooth.
The song was written by the band and appeared on their platinum certified album, Full Moon. It's the classic tale of greed and ghosts, which so often go together. How many times have you heard a ghost story that involved men seeking out treasure or money? The Mummy comes to mind. Even more famous than that, we see ghosts and greed entangled in Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol.
