This is Halloween - Marilyn Manson

You will not find another Manson tune on this blog; I can promise you that. I'm not a fan of his in any way, shape, form, but I do like this cover, hard as that is to admit. It's laid over the original footage from A Nightmare Before Christmas, the movie from which is was taken, and it fits perfectly. It's far creepier than the original take.

Manson was a very controversial figure when I was growing up. That probably had a lot to do with things like his albums' names, which included Antichrist Superstar and Smells Like Children, and a like that many would label as being "Satanic". He's no different than any other rock/pop star that has used controversy to fuel their careers. Since the 1950's when rock-n-roll first came to prominence we've seen this kind of thing. From KISS to Madonna, we've seen artists grab their listeners by being the newest, craziest thing. Despite all that, there is some talent there. Manson has been nominated for several Grammy Awards, winning one for "The Dope Show" video in 1999.
