What a weird New Wave kind of a song this is. It's a perfect eighties song in its sound and the fact that it was part of a movie soundtrack. The 1980's was when it started becoming commonplace that every major film had a major music release to go with it. Today, that trend seems to have fallen away, but when this song came out with the film it was a standard concept.
The band was fronted by none other than Danny Elfman, the composer responsible for dozens of movie scores. If you've ever seen a Tim Burton movie, chances are pretty good that you've heard Elfman's work. It's appropriate then that he wrote this song that was attached to the movie of the same name. The tune was later used in the TV version of Weird Science, too.
