This is one of those radio hits from my high school years. I wasn't sure what it was about back then, never put that much thought into it. Even so, it was still catchy. I like the kind of flatness of the lead vocal's tone on this, too. I've included a cover of it below by Alex Goot and Chad Sugg. Goot has appeared somewhat recently in my blog with another YouTube artist. I like what they're doing here, and I love that the internet has opened the door for so many people to express themselves and created a way for artists to perform their music without the middle man of the record label to cloud up the creative process.
Eagle Eye Cherry is a artist from Sweden. Unlike Five for Fighting, Eagle Eye Cherry is not a stage name taken on by the artist. He is the song of jazz-man Don Cherry and Monica Cherry, a Swedish painter. The two parents, for whatever reason, decided to name their son Eagle-Eye Lanoo. Maybe that's not that strange in Sweden; I don't know, honestly. Either way, it makes for a very memorable performers name. Maybe that was the plan all along.
