So, this guy was in one of my earlier posts, but he wasn't the main focus. He does some really cool stuff with the music he plays around, though. Despite the fact that many people say that video games will never be art - I disagree just to be clear - there is a lot of talent that goes into making them. The music is no exception. Regardless of how hokey this music sounded in an eight bit game, they are well composed tunes.
The score for Super Mario Bros. was written b Koji Kondo and made up of six different songs. This one of the six is officially known as "Ground Theme", but it's generally recognized as the game's main theme song. It was written after Koji received a test version of the game to be allowed to get a feel for the game play and what he needed to write. It was tweaked more than once throughout production, including after game testers got their hands on the title.
