In my last post, I mentioned Miller due to his comedic talent in music. On the other hand, Miller wrote some great music that wasn't really funny at all. Miller not only voiced the Disney's version of the Alan-a-Dale character from the Robin Hood mythos, he also wrote much of the music for the film, this song included. I love how it transitions from his version to the mouse playing the same melody on the church organ.
I really like the song's folksy sound, and it fits so well into the film. The best part about it is that it bridges time. I think you could easily apply this to The Great Depression or the way a lot of people feel about today's economy. The best songs can always be sung anytime and have a connection with the masses.
While looking for the song, I stumbled across the Mumford & Sons version below. I'm not a big fan of the group, but I do like what they did with the song. Take a listen to it, too. I'm pretty sure I'm going to follow this up tomorrow with another song from the same film. Actually, there may be a couple of days coming from this one.
