I like comedy in music a lot. People like Roger Miller, Ray Stephens, and Weird Al all do that well. Davis is another one that integrates that perspective into his music, too. Davis didn't limit himself to comedy in music. He has also starred in a variety TV show, a Broadway musical, and several movies. On top of that, he has been a songwriter for many notable artists, and early in his career, he wrote a number of hits for Elvis Presley, including "In the Ghetto" and "A Little Less Conversation". There are plenty of videos of him performing the song out there on YouTube, but when you pair something that's already good with The Muppets, it only gets better.
The song was a hit for him in 1980, climbing to #10 on the US country charts. The album of the same name hit the #3 spot on the country album charts, too. All in all, Davis released nineteen studio albums. His biggest commecial success came with the hit "Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me" in 1972. It was a Hot 100 #1 for three weeks.
