Get Over It - The Eagles

I wrote some yesterday about blaming others for your problems and told you this song was coming today. That's absolutely what this song is about. It's one of the groups heavier tunes, or maybe I should said it's more rock than some of their other tunes. I like it a lot, though. It was one of the songs that first attracted me to the band. I mean, how many bands out there can make a reference to Shakespeare in their song and make it sound as cool as the Eagles. The line "Old Billy was right: let's kill all the lawyers and kill 'em tonight" is referencing Henry VI.

With the idea of getting over yourself and your problems in mind, it's not so strange to know that this was the first song written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley after the group reunited. They'd taken a fourteen year break from one another, sighting, shall we say, differences of opinion. The band released the cleverly-titled Hell Freezes Over in 1994. The album hit #1 on the charts, containing this and three other new studio tracks, "Love Will Keep Us Alive" (both of which were Top 40 hits), "The Girl from Yesterday", and "Learn to Be Still".
