The Heart Won't Lie - Vince Gill & Reba McEntire

These two are great singers and performers on their own. You can look for an entry for each of them to follow over the next couple days. Together, they're even better. I like the meaning of the song, and their vocals are just awesome. This is one of those songs I heard as a kid on the radio and couldn't wait for it to end so I could hear another "fast song". Of course, being old enough to understand the meaning makes it a different experience.

According to McEntire, the song was originally supposed to feature Kenny Rogers, but because of the difference in range of their voices, it never came together quite right. When recording songs for her album, It's Your Call, Reba remembered this song and called Rogers to see if she could record it herself. He said yes, and Gill was called in to lay down tracks for the background vocals. Co-producer, Tony Brown, suggested letting Vince have a bit more of the song, creating the duet we know today.
