How about a country song that's about growing up in a small town? It's a novel concept, right? In all seriousness, this is a topic that gets covered in the genre often...obviously. I like this one a lot, though; I remember it from growing up in the early nineties, so, the nostalgia helps a lot. There's one line in particular that sticks out to me nowadays. Ketchum sings the line: "put a dollar's worth of gas in his pickup truck". It really shows you the difference between today and just twenty years ago. Today a dollar's worth of gas wouldn't even get you half of a gallon, much less give you enough to go drive around all night Saturday.
In the background of the video, you can see a movie playing. It's not something that was filmed specifically for the song's music video, though. It's a film called The Terror of Tiny Town. It's unique in that it stars an all-dwarf cast and is a western musical. It's the only one of its kind. Why they chose to use it for this video, I'm not sure. I guess it works. The song, Ketchum's debut, itself made it to #2 on the country charts.
