Big Time - Big & Rich

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssHnkroH8tI]

I think a lot of people would be way happier if they'd live by the kind of philosophy this song is promoting: just be happy with what you have. I saw a cartoon yesterday where a man was yelling "I Want Happiness". A monk then took his word bubble down, said to erase the "I" because that was ego, erase the "Want" because that is desire, and that all you have left after that is the happiness. This song kind of pushes the same way of thinking. The lyrics talk about not having the nicest things, but instead, looking at the things you do have. I'm sure both Kenny and John are doing just fine; however, they both walked hard roads to get to where they are. I'm sure they understand what they're singing about here.

Before joining forces to form this duo, the two had some good and bad career moments. John Rich was a founding member of Lonestar, but he was fired from the band after the release of their second album. Big Kenny Alpine had recorded a rock album with Hollywood Records that never got released, the songs written for it held by the label for five years. Finally, things fell in place when the two met at a club and began writing songs together. You just have to keep pushing until you hit the big time.
