You Win My Love - Shania Twain

Wouldn't life be so much easier if women would just tell men what they want? Well, Twain kind of sees it that way I guess. She basically lays out exactly what she's looking for in a guy in this song. It's just too bad everyone doesn't work that way. So much of today's romances are based on guessing and putting up fronts.

The verses of this song are what really draw me to it. I love the way the riff fits snuggly around the vocals. No part of the song gets in the way of the other parts, very well crafted music, indeed. I'd probably have played around with the drum beat a little more myself, but it's good as is. Of course, I'm a fan of the third verse break down with the funky little drum groove. The song was written by songwriter and producer Mutt Lange, Twain's ex-husband. It's one of the few songs she's recorded of which she wasn't a co-writer. It was a good decision, spending two weeks at the top of the charts.
