100 Years from Now - Huey Lewis

I don't have any reason for posting this video other than it's just a Huey kind of a day. I do love how tight the horns sound. It's a really fast shuffle tune, too. I dig a shuffle feel, any kind of shuffle really. To be honest, this might be my least favorite kind, but I still dig it. It's one of the hardest feels for me to create on the drums; it just feels unnatural with those straight triplets on the hi-hat.

The group has appeared on Leno several times over the years. This was a great performance, but it wasn't the most memorable. The clip below shows two songs being performed by the group, promoting their 1994 cover album, Four Chords & Several Years Ago.

First, I give props for the cover of the second song in the performance, "But It's Alright"; "Some Kind of Wonderful" was good, but doesn't compare to the two earlier versions by Grand Funk Railroad and Soul Brothers Six. Secondly, I give props to the clever title of the album. Finally, I give props to Leno. It's not often, if ever, you'll see a host of a show say "screw the commercial", especially just to keep the musical guest on for a second song. I'm sure there were some repercussions for that move, but then again, if I had to get that backdrop set for the group, I'd want to let them perform a second song, too.
