In 1999, Black released an album title D'lectrified, which was recorded entirely using only acoustic instruments. This song was the seventh track on the album and features harmonica, played by Black, and steel-string acoustic guitar, played by Wariner. The song talks about those unfortunate situations that we find ourselves in from time to time.
The one that rings most true with me is the one described by the lyrics "did you ever wake up in the middle of a dream that didn't come true." I don't have dreams that I can remember very often, but when I do they're extremely vivid, and the emotions I experience in the dreams carry over into my consciousness, good or bad. However, even when the emotions in the dream were good, I still wind up disappointed when I realize it was just a dream after all.
While looking up information for this song, I learned a lot about Wariner. I knew he was an excellent songwriter, writing or co-writing the majority of his own songs. He has also written for people like Black, Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, and Bryan White. Black isn't the only artist Wariner has written for that has also recorded a track with him. He also recorded "Long Neck Bottle" with Garth Brooks, among others. Black and Wariner were also co-writers on "Been There."
