This music was thickly ingrained in my memory for the longest time. This is the theme that plays over the ending credits of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It's also the theme that's used while you're waiting to join a multi-player match, or at least a shorter loop of it is. That's the reason it stuck with me for so long.
I never played this game or its predecessor nearly as much for the game experience as I did for the social experience. I'm by no means an excellent player at this game, especially when playing with random players. However, when you stick me on a team with people I know and with who I can run some strategy, I do pretty well. At one point, I had a group of about twelve people who I would play with regularly. I haven't played much since then, because it's not the same trying to join a random room. Regardless, I spent lots of time waiting on matches to start, listening to this them play over and over again.
I love the way Zimmer blends the classical sounds, sound effects, and heavily distorted guitar in this entire soundtrack. He's a big name in Hollywood soundtracks, and now he's done video games, too. I look to see the music in video games step up another level from the high point it's already attained.
