Johnny is the younger brother of a couple of other Van Zants of which you might've heard: Ronnie - co-founder of Lynyrd Skynyrd - and Donnie - founder of .38 Special. Johnny currently is the lead singer for his brother's group, Lynyrd Skynyrd, taking over Ronnie's former position as lead singer. Ronnie passed away in 1977. This song is from one of Johnny's solo albums, and the only thing I don't really care for is the synth part replacing what should be actual horns, but the song did come from a 1990 album, Brickyard Road, and the synth was probably just a holdover from the eighties.
