This tune made it all they way to #4, and for me, it's easy to see why. It's a good, slow groove. It'll work for slow dancing...and other things. Kenneth Brian "Babyface" Edmonds is not only a singer, but a guitarist, keyboardist, record producer, and film producer. This song also won him a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
It's funny how the smallest things in a song can be the most memorable, sometimes things you don't even notice. In this song, the bongo/conga sounds in the background are so essential to the groove, but a lot of people wouldn't notice them unless they were removed, and even then, they'd just thing something was missing. Something a little more noticeable that Edmonds uses to bring the song back in from the short breaks is the slap against the acoustic guitar body. It's a signature part of the song, but it's such a small touch.
