I re-encountered this song the other day when a friend posted the video below. I don't think it's any secret that most people like to see the good in people, and that video definitely captures it. The song just adds to the fuzzy feeling you get.
The song was written by the man performing it above, Rodger Hodgson of Supertramp. He originally shared the writing credits with fellow band member Rick Davies, but he changed that around upon leaving the band. This song was a big hit in the US and the band's native UK. The 12-string guitar gives it a nice ring for sure.

Great videos and a wonderful song! I hear "Give a Little Bit" on the radio frequently and it always brings a smile to my face. I also had the great pleasure of seeing Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp, perform his classic live in concert a few weeks ago. What a show! Absolutely the best concert I have ever been to and his voice sounds even better today than on my Supertramp vinyls.
ReplyDeleteRoger wrote "Give a Little Bit" while he was in his teens before he even met Rick and co-founded the band. Many people don't realize that although Roger and Rick shared writing credit, as your piece says, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own respective songs. Roger also gave us Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Dreamer, Take the Long Way Home, and so many more.
Check out Roger's tour dates on Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/RogerHodgsonOfficial. He's already announcing dates for 2013. I definitely plan to see him again, as once is not enough.
Thanks for reading! I really appreciate it, and I appreciate the extra info on the song and artist, too.
