This version of the song was performed live during Eric Clapton's One More Car, One More Rider DVD filming. Preston was the keyboardist for the tour and performed one song each night. The DVD I have of the show has this song on it. The CD copy of the tour doesn't. I can't remember which song is performed during that recording, but it's definitely not this one.
The song was written by Preston and Bruce Fisher and recorded in '72. The song made it to #1 the following year. There are lots of really good covers of the song out there, and the original is good, too. I was personally a big fan of Taylor Hicks before he kind of disappeared. He also performed a good version, but I can't find it online that's a good quality.
