When Charles Shultz, creator of the Charlie Brown cartoon characters, Peanuts, passed away in 2000. Pianist/conductor/composer Benoit recorded an album in tribute: Here's to You Charlie Brown: 50 Great Years. The above song, "Linus and Lucy", the cartoon's main theme - after its evolution to TV from comic strip of course - was one of the tracks recorded.
The song has been performed by many great artists, and with A Charlie Brown Christmas becoming a holiday classic, the song has also become closely associated with Christmas, too. Benoit also became the composer for music in later Charlie Brown animated events after the release of the aforementioned album.
