The Jerry Douglas dobro solo, which is pretty awesome, runs into the actual song at about the six minute mark of this video. I love the tone and sound of a drobro. It's so distinct, not that other instruments aren't. It's just as likely, maybe more so, that if you hear a guitar, you know it's a guitar. I guess it's just the limited scope of use that makes the dobro really stand out when it's used.
I'm not a huge bluegrass fan, and I think that mainly stems from being around so much traditional bluegrass growing up. If I were to immerse myself in more contemporary grass, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more. It's very possible that if not for her country cross over work, I'd have never heard of Krauss.
Most people who are fans of country will remember her popular cover of Keith Whitley's, "When You Say Nothing at All" and her duet with Brad Paisley on "Whiskey Lullaby". She's extremely talented beyond that, too. She has appeared on numerous soundtracks and released fourteen albums. She's also done some acting work, none of which I've seen, but I imagine it to be pretty good, too.
