Hollywood Swinging - Kool & the Gang

This tune spins right off of yesterday's post in that it's commonplace to hear part of this riff in pop culture. It's often played in movies and TV when someone is "movin' on up", as it were. The person is taking that step from poverty or hard times to celebrity and money. It also had plenty of time in the sun on its release, making #6 on the Hot 100. It was written by several members of the band.

It's probably more recognizable to the younger generation by the sampled opening horn riff. It was used in DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat". You can find that song below. I hate that it's not the entire riff, though and that it doesn't resolve the fill. There's also a pretty popular cover of the tune by British group Jamiroquai.
