This tune has a somewhat strange story and origin, coming from Trinidadian calypso artist, Lord Kitchener. He won the Carnival Road March with the song in 1946. The version above was recorded by Belefonte in '61. While this is not Belaftone's best known song, it has become a pretty popular song after appearances in films and TV shows. His most popular song is probably "The Banana Boat Song," which can also be seen in Beetlejuice, the movie in which "Jump in the Line" appears.
This is one of the few Tim Burton movies I can get completely on board with watching. I usually can't get into Burton's craziness enough to enjoy the movies he makes. Even his take on Batman was a little too strange fore me, especially trying to go back and watch it now after seeing the Chris Nolan trilogy. This one stands as a classic, though, for sure. You can see the performance of both songs from the film below.
