On Our Own - Bobby Brown

In yesterday's post, I mentioned that Brown was supposed to be the voice of Powerline, but was pulled because of his drug problem. Well, if you go back a few years, you'll find his music appearing elsewhere in films. His drug problem wasn't as much of a problem 1989, during the release of Ghostbusters II.

This song wasn't the main theme for the movie, but it does stand out in my head pretty well. The song plays after the main theme at the end of the film during the credits. It could honestly stand on its own without the movie, but Brown does rap about the Ghostbusters during one section of the song that directly connects it with the film. The song made it all the way to #2 on the Hot 100 chart. "On Our Own" technically falls under the genre of "new jack swing," though it's widely considered an R&B hit.
