This tune was originally written and recorded by the legendary Bo Diddley. It has been covered by CCR, obviously, but also Eric Clapton and Delbert McClinton, among others. The song was a B-side to Diddley's "Say Bossman." This was also one of the first songs I played out with a band.
This was't CCR's only venture into cover songs by any means. Most notably, they covered Marvin Gaye's "I Heard it Through the Graepvine" and Little Richard's "Good Golly, Miss Molly." The door swings the other way, too. CCR's "Proud Mary," written by band member John Fogerty, was very famously recorded by Ike and Tina Turner.
