It's funny how some bands explode in popularity and very similar bands fall short. This band was right in the same pocket as Alabama, Exile, Confederate Railroad, and Shenandoah. While Alabama stands in a class of its own, Gibson/Miller held their ground with the other three mentioned, and many others. They released only two studio albums, and this song, reaching #20 on the charts, was their most successful cut.
The two founders of the band, Dave Gibson and Blue Miller, who were introduced by Doug Johnson (VP of Epic Records at the time), went on to solo careers after the band fell apart. Their second studio album did not perform well enough for Epic to keep them signed, and the group disbanded shortly after leaving the label. Their second album did produce a pretty cool cover of "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys". Gibson was a successful song writer, writing the hits "Ships That Don't Come In" for Joe Diffie and "Queen of Memphis" for Confederate Railroad, among others.
