Hiatt is the all around musician for sure. He's right up there with guys like Steve Winwood and Paul McCartney in his ability to perform many different styles and play a wide range of instruments. He started out as a songwriter and wound up with a deal from Epic Records. If nothing else speaks to his talent, the never ending list of artists that have covered his songs does. Everyone from BB King to Keith Urban to Paula Abdul to Willie Nelson have covered Hiatt's music. His catalog is so big that you're sure to hear something you like.
"Alone in the Dark" appeared on Hiatt's eighth studio album, Bring the Family. The big hit from the album was "Have A Little Faith in Me," but "Alone" is such a groovy tune, I had to post it on the blog. Three of the musicians that recorded on the album, Ry Cooder, Nick Lowe, and Jim Keltner, would later go on to form the group Little Village and record "Thing Called Love," which would later become a hit for Bonnie Raitt.
