Home Depot Jingle

 [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-vYekTQZlU]

Alright, this may be a strange one to post, but I have my reasons. You may have heard or seen online the quote: "friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3." I'm positive that a musician coined this turn of phrase. The back beat, which is what gives most popular contemporary music it's feel, falls on beats two and four. It's when you hear the snare drum pop, fingers snap, or hands clap. However, every time you go to a concert, you'll always see large groups of people clapping on beats one and three. I'm not sure what pushes these people to this misguided attempt at audience participation, but it just doesn't feel right. I don't know how they make the mistake, but I digress...

This jingle, heard in almost every Home Depot radio ad, goes against that way of thinking. Right from the beginning, the sound of fingers snapping can be heard on beats one and three. They continue that way through the entire jingle. It places a very different feel on the music. Combined with the syncopation of the other percussive sounds in the music, it makes my head want to explode.
